Omaha, NE - Week 15 has come and gone. The Storm handled the Ice; the Outlaws took their second in-a-row from the Rage, the Beef evened the score with the Extreme, the BlueCats defeated the Greyhounds and the Raptors beat the Horsemen.
SIOUX FALLS 48, COLORADO 3
At Sioux Falls, SD
The Sioux Falls Storm weathered the Colorado Ice 48-3 Saturday at the Sioux Falls Arena. Leading the way for the Storm were K Adam Hicks, RB Marques Smith and their defense. Hicks went 4-4 on field goals (30, 52, 17, and 19) and 4-5 on extra points to score 20 points. Smith rushed for 66 yards and three touchdowns; he also caught two passes for 10 yards. The Storm's "Thunder Defense" lived up to its name as they nabbed three sacks, tallied three interceptions (one returned 50 yards for a touchdown by Justin Landis); recovered a fumble, which was returned for a touchdown, blocked two field goals (both by Leif Murphy), recorded a safety and also broke up a pass. Leading the way for the Ice were RB Sean Ingram and DL Jeff Spletzer. Ingram rushed for 36 yards, caught three passes for 22 yards and also returned a kickoff six yards. Defensively, Spletzer made 4.5 tackles (two TFL) and a sack; he also broke up a pass.
BILLINGS 46, RIVERCITY 44
At St. Charles, MO
The Billings Outlaws went on the road to seek their eighth win in-a-row and they got it, defeating the RiverCity Rage 46-44 Saturday at The Family Arena. The Outlaws were led by QB Chris Dixon and DB Jerry Jones. Dixon had 215 yards of total offense (58 rushing, 157 passing) and four passing touchdowns. Jones made 6.5 tackles, intercepted a pass and also broke up a pass. RiverCity was led by RB Muhammad Abdulqaadir and LB Joe Bevis. Abdulqaadir rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns; he also caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Fisher. Bevis led the defense with 10.5 tackles and a quarterback hurry; he also rushed one time for five yards.
BLOOMINGTON (6-6) vs. OMAHA (5-7)
At Omaha, NE
The Omaha Beef defeated the Bloomington Extreme 33-22 Saturday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Leading the way were QB James McNear and the team's defense. McNear tallied 210 yards of total offense (62 rushing and 148 passing) and four total touchdowns (two passing and two rushing). The "Beef-fense" sacked Dusty Burk once, intercepted him twice (both by Reicko Jones), broke up eight passes, blocked a Peter Christofilakos field (by Chris Eads) and also had two quarterback hurries. Leading the way for Bloomington were WR/KR Shatone Powers and DB James Temple. Powers returned six kickoffs for 149 yards (including a 54-yard return for a touchdown) and also caught a pass for three yards. Temple led the defense with 10 tackles (one TFL).
EVANSVILLE 44, OHIO VALLEY 20
At Wheeling, WV
The Evansville BlueCats defeated the Ohio Valley Greyhounds 44-20 Saturday at WesBanco Arena. Evansville was led by RB Odest Shannon and LB John Winchester. Shannon led the BlueCats with 120 all-purpose yards (82 kickoff returns and 38 receiving) and a receiving touchdown. Winchester made 6.5 tackles (two TFL), recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown and also broke up a pass. Leading the way for the Greyhounds were DL Jeffery Candler and WR Darrell Dowery. Candler made four tackles (.5 TFL) and ½ a sack. Dowery caught nine passes for 124 yards and a touchdown reception.
ROCK RIVER 70, LEXINGTON 47
At Rockford, IL
The Rock River Raptors defeated the Lexington Horsemen 70-47 Saturday at MetroCentre. Leading the way for Rock River were RB Randy Bell and their defense. Bell had 141 all-purpose yards (67 rush, two receiving and 72 kickoff returns) and four touchdowns (three rushing and one kickoff return). The Raptors' defense tallied five sacks, forced four fumbles (recovering two, one of which Ricky Miller returned nine yards for a touchdown), broke up 10 passes, intercepted a pass (by Anthony Harris and returned 10 yards for a touchdown), had nine quarterback hurries and even blocked a field goal (by Maurice Simpkins). Leading the way for the Horsemen were RB Rayshawn Askew and DB/KR William Mulder. Askew rushed for 67 yards and three touchdowns; he also caught five passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. Mulder made 4.5 tackles (one TFL) and broke up a pass; he also returned three kickoffs for 62 yards.
