
United Indoor Football Playoff Round One Preview

Omaha, NE - The United Indoor Football regular season is in the books. The drive for the elusive United Bowl championship begins this weekend. The four teams involved with the two games on the docket are very familiar with each other. The games are as follows: the Billings Outlaws will battle with the Omaha Beef while the RiverCity Rage will rumble with the Sioux City Bandits.
SIOUX CITY (4-10) vs. RIVERCITY (6-8)
At St. Charles, MO
Saturday, 7 p.m. Central
The Sioux City Bandits and the RiverCity Rage will meet in the Eastern Conference semi-final game to be played Saturday evening at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. The teams met June 7th in Sioux City with the Rage defeating the Bandits 41-27. In their last action, RiverCity fell last weekend to Billings 45-23 at home. Leading the way for the Rage were linebacker Joe Bevis and running back David Daniels. Bevis made a team-high nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss while also breaking up a pass. Daniels tallied 145 all-purpose yards (16 rushing and 129 kickoff returns). game marks the first time the two teams have played this season. In their last action, Sioux City fell to the Omaha Beef 34-9 last Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Leading the way for the Bandits were defensive back Chad Husted and wide receiver O.J. Simpson. Husted made four tackles and broke up three passes. Simpson tallied 114 all-purpose yards (four rushing, 73 receiving and 37 kickoff returns). The winner of this game will face the Bloomington Extreme in the Eastern Conference Championship game to be played Monday, June 30th at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
OMAHA (10-4) vs. BILLINGS (10-4)
At Billings, MT
Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Mountain
The Omaha Beef and the Billings Outlaws will face off in the Western Conference semi-final game to be played Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana. The teams have already met twice this season: March 8th in Billings and May 17th in Omaha as Billings won both, 70-37 and 61-40, respectively. The Outlaws defeated the RiverCity Rage 45-23 last Saturday evening at the Family Arena. Billings was led by quarterback Chris Dixon and defensive back Travonti Johnson. Dixon tallied 182 yards of total offense (18 rushing and 164 passing) and had a hand in four touchdowns (one rushing and three passing). Johnson made 3.5 tackles and a tackle for loss while intercepting a pass and breaking up another. The Beef defeated the Sioux City Bandits 34-9 last Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Leading the way for Omaha were quarterback James McNear and the team's defense. The Beef's defense tallied six tackles for loss and four sacks while also recovering a fumble, intercepting a pass, breaking up five more passes and blocking a field goal. On offense, McNear tallied 107 yards of total offense (46 rushing and 61 passing) and a hand in four total touchdowns (two rushing and two passing). The winner of this game will face the Sioux Falls Storm in the Western Conference Championship game to be played Saturday, June 28th at the Sioux Falls Arena.
