United Football League Asks Fans To Suggest Tie-Breaker Scenarios

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Wednesday, October 6, 2010 - Underlining its innovative approach to fan interaction, the United Football League is asking football fans to suggest tiebreaker systems that could be used to determine final standings at the end of the current 2010 season.

Visitors to the UFL section of Fanhouse.com may enter their suggestions for the tiebreakers between now and October 13. The suggestions will then be considered by the UFL Competitions Committee.

"We are soliciting opinions to see what fans want to see in a tiebreaker," said LARRY UPSON, the UFL Vice President of Officiating Operations. "That is the whole theory behind this, to let the fans have a voice. I am hoping to tap into that resource to come up with a good tiebreaker system."

The United Football League standings currently show all five teams within one and a half games of each other. The Omaha Nighthawks are in first place at 2-0, the Hartford Colonials and Las Vegas Locomotives are tied for second place at 1-1, and the Florida Tuskers and Sacramento Mountain Lions are just half a game behind what would be the second and final UFL Championship Game berth.

The top two teams in the final standings will qualify for the 2010 UFL Championship Game.

"If fans can come up with a set of points that are valid scenarios, then we as a committee can sit down and consider them," added Upson. "I hope we get a lot of responses."
