Saint John Riptide News Release
The University of New Hampshire's Lundholm Gymnasium will play host to the Manchester Millrats - Rochester RazorSharks pro basketball game on Sunday February 28th at 5:00pm.
Three players between the two teams have U.N.H. connections. Manchester's Eric Gilchrese and Tyrece Gibbs were key members of the 2008-2009 Wildcats team, while Rochester's Keith Friel grew up in the area and his father was a long time men's head basketball coach at the school. The basketball court in the Lundholm Gymnasium is named "The Gerry Friel Court".
Gilchrese has made his way into the starting lineup for the Millrats, averaging 16.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game, while Tyrece Gibbs has posted averages of 7.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Keith Friel is the reigning Premier Basketball League MVP from a season ago for the two-time defending PBL champions, and has carved quite a niche for himself in Rochester. He has played five consecutive years with the RazorSharks, and is the franchise's all-time leading scorer.
Rochester knocked Manchester out of last season's PBL playoffs, two games to one, in what was a hotly contested series. Earlier this season on January 16th in Manchester, Rochester won in overtime over the Millrats, 130-117. Eric Gilchrese scored 21 points for the home team, while Friel notched a game high 31 for the visitors.
The game will follow the final regular season home game for the UNH Wildcats men's basketball team, which plays Stonybrook at 1:00pm.
Tickets are just $5.00 and are available at the UNH Box Office, online at www.millrats.com, or at the door. Seating is limited. Doors will open 1 hour prior to tip off.
