
Unbeaten Commandos travel to Windy City to face Cardinals

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Commandos (5-0) will play their second road game of the season when they kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against the Chicago Cardinals (0-4) at the Odeum Sports and Expo Center.

Number One: Cincinnati ranks first in the Continental Indoor Football League in a number of categories, including: scoring offense (52.4 points per game); scoring defense (25 points per game); touchdowns scored (39); total offense (238.2 yards per game); total defense (144.2 yards per game); rushing offense (84.8 yards per game); rushing touchdowns (9) and passing defense (73 yards per game).
Mauk-ing the Competition: Commandos QB Ben Mauk leads the CIFL with 27 touchdown passes. The next closest player is Fort Wayne QB Kota Colors with 11. Mauk also ranks first in total offense (181.2 yards per game); total number of touchdowns (29); passing yards per game (157.6); pass efficiency (111.4) and completion percentage (68.6).
Goodie Two-Shoes: Cincinnati WR Dominick Goodman is near the top of the leader board in most of the CIFL receiving categories. He leads the league in receptions with 27 and receiving touchdowns with 11. Goodman is second in receiving yards at 279 (Miami Valley's Daniel Stover has 291), while his receiving counterpart Brandon Boehm is third with 216.
Sack Masters: All three Commandos starting defensive linemen rank in the top 10 in the CIFL in sacks. DE James Spikes (nine) leads the league, DT Terrill Byrd (six) is tied for third and DE James Frazier (two) ranks seventh. Spikes also leads the league in tackles for loss with 11.
Give a little, Take a little: Commandos DBs Jeff Franklin and Robbie Wilson rank No. 1 and 2 in the CIFL in interceptions. Franklin and Wilson both have retuned one of their picks for scores.
Mulling his options: Linebacker Clayton Mullins leads the CIFL in tackles with 33 in five games and second in tackles per game at 7.6. His diving interception in the final seconds of the fourth quarter sealed the Commandos victory last week against Miami Valley.
Moose to return: Cincinnati K Travis Johnson is expected to play Saturday after missing last week's game due to a rib cage injury suffered Aug. 10 vs. Wisconsin. His return will be welcomed after the team went just two for nine in two-point conversion attempts, and used four different players to serve kickoff duties.
