Unbeaten Central Illinois Drive Meet St. Louis Phoenix Saturday

Bloomington, IL, 2/8/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the St. Louis Phoenix Saturday at 7:05 pm. It will be the first weekend night start for the team as they try to stay undefeated. The Drive will wear special white and pink jerseys to celebrate Valentine's Day. Following the game fans can bid on the jerseys in a live auction, sponsored by Zozzaro Chiropractic. All proceeds will benefit locally the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The game will also be D&R Plumbing Heating & Air, Inc. "Drive Plunger Night." The first 1,000 Fans get a plunger.

Central Illinois and St. Louis played the first two games of the season. One was in St. Louis and the other in Bloomington.

After Saturday they will play two more times. On Feb. 26 the two teams will play in St. Louis, then they will play in Bloomington on March 23.

When the Drive last played they beat the Indiana Diesels 104-78 last Sunday. Rodney Edgerson led the way with 26 points, 3 three-point baskets, and he went 5 for 5 on free throws. Perry Petty played well in the absence of Daniel Ruffin, scoring 20 points with 8 rebounds.

The Phoenix lost 115-105 to the Chicago Muscle on Jan. 29 at home. Dwayne Polk led the scoring with 26 points and had 4 three-pointers. Polk leads the Phoenix in scoring with an average of 16.8 points per game. St. Louis actually led the game 24-29 after the opening quarter but Chicago turned up the offense the rest of the way.

The Drive are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 16 as they take on the Chicago Muscle at home. The Muscle are 4-3 and are off until they play the Drive, so that record will not change. The game is the second of five between these two this year. The Drive beat Chicago 113-79 at home on Jan. 14.
