UIF Week Three Preview
Published on April 6, 2007 under United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE - With three teams undefeated, RiverCity (2-0), Sioux Falls (2-0), and Omaha (2-0), who will come out of week three with a perfect record and who will drop their first game of the season? Will Billings be able to pick up that evasive first win of the season?
STORM (2-0) at BANDITS (0-1)
One of three undefeated teams, the Storm come into week three with the third best quarterback in yards/game in Terrance Bryant, who is averaging 179 yds/g. Allen Burrell had 111 yards on seven catches last week and could be a huge threat this week. One game into the season, the Bandits have had an interesting week, as head coach Richard Britt resigned and Assistant Coach Roger Jansen was named Interim Head Coach. Defensively for the Bandits, they need to shut down the open style of play the Storm will use. Kickoff is Friday night, 7:05 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center Gateway Arena.
ICE (1-1) at RAGE (2-0)
Defense, Defense, Defense; the Ice are going to have to be on top of their game in this one. Rage running back Muhammad Abdulqaadir is averaging 67.5 yds/g. The only running back with a higher mark is Eugene Reed from the Ice who's averaging 76.5. The Ice will also need to control wide receivers Hurtis Chinn and Moses Regular who have a combined 273 yards, second only to the tandem of Lawrence Bady and Jeremiah Thompson (ROC). Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.
EXTREME (0-1) at GREYHOUNDS (0-2)
A week ago, the Extreme scored only three touchdowns in a 20-53 loss against the Raptors. The key for the Extreme will be offense, as they only totaled 85 yards in week two. The Greyhounds should come to attack the Extreme with defensive back Stephan Agyeman and lineman Leon Moore. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Saturday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, WV.
BLUECATS (1-1) at HORSEMEN (1-1)
If the BlueCats offensive can't beat the Horsemen, then they'll have to turn to kicker Ton-Ton Luzayadio and a defense tied for third in scoring defense. The Horsemen lost a nail biter in week two by throwing an interception during overtime against the Rage. Offensively, the Horsemen rank second in pass offense with 192 yds/g. The Horsemen will have to bring their run defense and pass defense, as the BlueCats are ranked first in both offensive categories. It's a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Rupp Arena.
BEEF (2-0) at OUTLAWS (0-2)
Omaha looks to cook the Outlaws, as the Outlaws look to steal a victory Easter Sunday. The Beef had a strong defensive showing in week two from Chris Eads and two-way player Fran Johnson. Mike Nizzi and Lawrence Pullen will both need big games for the Beef offense. The Outlaws have never lost three games in a row, and if the offensive chemistry shows, then that will hold true. In week two, Chris Dixon was money, going 23-32 for 233 yards and four touchdowns, while he also ran for three. Chemistry between Dixon and his receivers will be key as will possession time for the Outlaws. Easter Sunday brings a 4 p.m. kickoff in Billings.
