OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS 43, at BLOOMINGTON EXTREME 37 - The Ohio Valley Greyhounds (6-5) defeated the Bloomington Extreme (5-6) in one of the loudest venues in the UIF, 43-37. This was a must win for both teams, as they both sit in the middle of the playoff picture. The Greyhounds now sit in perfect position going into the last four games as they have the fourth best record in the UIF. Bloomington now is tied for the final two spots in the post season with Sioux City and Omaha, as all three teams sit with a 5-6 record. In front of over 5,000 Extreme fans, Greyhound QB, Matt Kohn, threw for 226-yards from 19 of 31 passing and three touchdowns. He did manage to throw two interceptions in the contest. On the receiving end of most of Kohn's throws was Willie Austin. Austin caught nine passes for a total of 124-yards and two TD's, with his longest reception a staggering 43-yards. Returning for the first time since May 6th was star QB for the Extreme, Dusty Burk. Burk threw for 155-yards and two TD's (1 int.) from 15 of 30 pass attempts. Defensively, Extreme linebacker, Winston Taylor, led all players with nine total tackles (7 solo) and one break-up. Both teams must continue to win the last month of the season, in order to secure a spot in the post season. Next weekend the Greyhounds will host the Lexington Horsemen (9-2) and Bloomington host the Omaha Beef (5-6.)

In OMAHA BEEF 70, ROCK RIVER RAPTORS 54 - The Beef (5-6) got a must need win this weekend over a tough Raptors (7-4) team, 70-54. The Beef now hold the tie breaker over the Raptors as Omaha leads the season series, 2-0. Omaha and Sioux Falls account for all four of the Raptors losses on the season and Rock River the only team to defeat the Lexington Horsemen as well. Andy Majors received his first start of the season as QB for the Beef and did not hesitate to rattle a few cages. Majors threw for four touchdowns from just seven of the eleven passing for 108-yards and also rushed TD late in the fourth quarter to help ensure a Beef victory. Jamar Day (44-yards) and RJ Rollins (90-yards) combined for 134-yards on the ground and two touchdowns to make them one of the deadliest back fields now in the UIF. Jason Mitchell's only caught four passes on the night, but they happened to be all four of Majors TD passes, as Mitchell totaled 77-yards receiving. Ben Sankey (ROC) threw for 193-yards and three touchdowns in the loss as Tyrece Butler and John Hollins combined for 128-yards receiving and all three of Sankey's TD's. Sankey also rushed for one score as well. Defensively, Greg Cole of the Raptors led all players with 8.5 tackles. Currently the Raptors still sit with a third seed and a two-game lead in the Central Division. The Beef now pulled back into the pack as they are tied for the final two spots with Division rival, Sioux City Bandits, and also the Bloomington Extreme. Next week the Beef will head to Bloomington (5-6) and Rock River will host Ft. Wayne (3-8.)

In SIOUX FALLS STORM 71, PEORIA ROUGH RIDERS 0 - The Peoria (0-11) defense as first looked like they were going to hold the Storm (11-0) as it was scoreless at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter fired up the Storm as they then went for 71 unanswered points in the final three periods. This win gives the Storm a clinched, first round bye in the post season and has knocked the Rough Riders out of the playoff picture. Terrance Bryant (SFS) threw for 158-yards from 13 of 18 passing and four touchdowns and also rushed for one. Ken Horton and James Terry combined for 130-yards receiving and three TD's. In EVANSVILLE BLUECATS 43, FT. WAYNE FREEDOM 37 - The BlueCats (4-7) came up with a big win on Saturday night, 43-37, to keep them in the playoff hunt. The Freedom now drop to 3-8 on the season as they have been plagued by injuries all year long and have went on an eight game skid. Aaron Leak led the way for the BlueCats with 108-yards passing and one touchdown to Tyrone Walker. Leak also rushed for 42-yards and one score. Walker totaled 72-yards receiving from six catches. If Harvey can remain healthy, the Freedom may be able to pull themselves out of this slump and propel themselves back into the playoff hunt in the final four games. Defensively, Vernon Turner (EVA) led all players with eight total tackles and also had one pass break-up and an interception. Next week the BlueCats host the Peoria Rough Riders (0-11) and the Freedom head to Rock River (7-4.)
