UIF Announces Awards for 2006 Season

October 3, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release


The United Indoor Football Association (UIF) is pleased to announce the Outstanding Achievement Awards for the 2006 season. The UIF recognized individuals and teams in eight categories. Each team in the UIF was given the opportunity to vote in each category.

United Bowl II Champion Sioux Falls Storm was awarded the most honors with five. The Storm was recognized for the second consecutive year as the Best Game Day Operation, Best Mascot, and Best Website. Storm President Colin Steen was also awarded the UIF Executive of the Year award for the second time. Steen is entering his sixth season with the Storm. The Lightning Girls also received the honor of Dance Team of the Year. The Lightning Girls consist of 12 members and have assisted the Storm organization in numerous community events during the season.

The Bloomington Extreme were recognized with two awards as Greg Halbleib and Craig Fata received the award for Best Radio Broadcast. Halbleib and Fata broadcast all 15 games for the Extreme this season. Extreme owner Ed Brady was named Owner of the Year for 2006. Brady led the expansion efforts of the Extreme to a successful first season as the Extreme finished the season second in the league in attendance.

The Sioux City Bandits were recognized as having the Best Stat Crew. Randy Kascht is the manager of the Stat Crew for the Bandits.

Dustin Talacko of the Omaha Beef was awarded the Executive of the Year in a tie with Colin Steen. In 2006, Dustin served as the Beef's Operations Director and Assistant General Manager. 2007 will mark Talacko's eighth season with the Beef.

The 2007 UIF season will begin on the weekend of March 24 with United Bowl III being played on the weekend of July 28.
