UHL Slapped with Multi Million Dollar Lawsuit
by Richmond Professional Hockey LLC
Published on December 8, 2005 under International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Richmond Professional Hockey LLC, owners of the Richmond RiverDogs, today filed suit against the United Hockey League, Old Dominion Professional Hockey LLC, Eric Margeneau, and Jay Acton. The suit alleges that the defendants conspired to convert the property of Richmond Professional Hockey LLC (RPH). The charges stem from the breech of an agreement by the leagues commissioner and Margeneau in which the parties agree to purchase the team and all of its assets from Richmond Professional Hockey LLC.
In June the League acted unilaterally at its annual meeting, to take the franchise from RPH and give Eric Margeneau the right to operate in Richmond. However the league failed to follow due process and in awarding Margeneau the operational rights to Richmond, violated the law.
