
UHL annual meeting update

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) released Wednesday the following information from the 2004 Annual UHL Board of Governors Meetings held in Las Vegas, Nevada (June 10 - 12, 2004) and in St. Louis, Missouri (July 6, 2004).

Fourteen participating clubs divided into three divisions; Western, Central and Eastern.

2004-05 RULE CHANGES
AUTOMATIC ICING
Icing infractions shall be whistled dead once the puck crosses the goal line.
REMOVAL OF THE RED LINE
The red line will not be utilized (thus eliminating the two-line pass) for 2004-05 UHL preseason games ONLY.
SALARY CAP
Due to the increase in the number of games played (80), the salary cap is increased to $260,000.00 for the regular season.
ADDITIONAL VETERAN
The maximum number of veterans on an active roster shall be SEVEN.
VETERAN AND ROOKIE STATUS REMAINS THE SAME AS THE 2003-04 SEASON
The playing status of a "veteran" shall be defined as a player who has participated in 280 or more regular season games in any professional hockey league, including Europe. A veteran goaltender is any goaltender that has participated in 16,800 or more game minutes.
The playing status of a "rookie" shall be defined as a player who has participated in 40 or fewer regular season games in any professional hockey league, including Europe. A rookie goaltender is any goaltender that has participated in 2,400 or fewer game minutes.
2005 COLONIAL CUP PLAYOFF FORMAT:
The top two teams in each division (based on points) shall qualify for playoffs and the two teams with the next highest point total, clinching the remaining two spots (7, 8). The division winners shall be seeded 1 - 3 (based on points) and the remaining five, seeded 4 - 8 (based on points). All teams will be re-seeded (based on points) following the completion of the first round.
The higher seeded team shall retain home ice advantage throughout the postseason.
ALL ROUNDS WILL NOW BE A BEST-OF-SEVEN SERIES
First Round shall be a best-of-seven series
Conference Finals shall be a best-of-seven series
Colonial Cup Finals shall be a best-of-seven series
DR. ERIC MARGENAU UHL GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
In honor of former governor and owner, the UHL's Governor of the Year will be known as the Dr. Eric Margenau UHL Governor of the Year.
