UFL Week 5 Notes
October 11, 2011 - United Football League (UFL 1) News Release
-JACKSONVILLE, FL - Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - For the first time in United Football League history, all teams meet the same opponent they battled on the football field last weekend in the second of back-to-back games as the season reaches Week 5.
The Las Vegas Locomotives and Omaha Nighthawks will clash once again, this time on Saturday, October 15 at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central) at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, seven days after a 30-10 Locos home victory at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The Locos are 2-1 and in second place in the standings, while the Nighthawks are 1-2 and in third place, so this game will go a long way toward deciding whether Las Vegas will have a shot at a third straight UFL championship, or if Omaha will continue to have a chance to play for a first-ever league crown.
Also on Saturday, at the slightly earlier time of 7pm Eastern (4pm Pacific) at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, the 3-0 Virginia Destroyers will make their longest road trip of their debut season to take on the 0-3 Sacramento Mountain Lions. In Week 4, Virginia took a 28-6 decision from Sacramento at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, in a game, which was a 7-6 affair through three quarters, but ended with the Destroyers claiming pole position in the standings.

THE RACE TO 1,000 YARDS
No running back in the brief history of the United Football League has rushed for 1,000 career yards. By the end of Saturday night, there might be at least two members of the UFL 1,000-yard club - with an outside shot at a third.
Virginia's Dominic Rhodes, Sacramento's Cory Ross and Las Vegas' DeDe Dorsey all have a shot at reaching the rushing milestone during Saturday's Week 5 slate. That's very fitting, in that these are the top three running backs in the history of the UFL.
Ross, who has missed the last two Mountain Lions games due to injury, stands at 942 career rushing yards going into Saturday's home game with the Destroyers. Ross' injury has opened the door for both Rhodes and Dorsey to close the gap on the league's all-time leading rusher and 2010 Offensive MVP.
Rhodes, thanks to a league-leading 369 rushing yards in just three games in 2011, now has 920 career yards on the ground in UFL play. And Dorsey whose Locos will travel to Omaha for a key game against the Nighthawks on Saturday, currently stands at 840 UFL rushing yards. Dorsey has exploded for big games on the ground before, and with the Nighthawks allowing 145.7 rushing yards per game, he has a shot to at least get closer to a grand this weekend.
The Mountain Lions-Destroyers clash will air live on Comcast SportsNet California and will also streamed live on the official UFL website [2]www.UFL-Football.com powered by Veetle and sponsored by ConAgra Foods.
The telecast will be available in High Definition and will feature the broadcast team of Sacramento sportscaster GRANT NAPEAR, former NFL coach JERRY GLANVILLE, former Cal and NFL quarterback MIKE PAWLAWSKI and radio personality DAN DIBLEY.
