UAB's Donnell Taylor allocated to WBA's Birmingham franchise

The World Basketball Association and Commissioner Mike Glenn anounce Donnell Taylor, a 6-6 180lb Guard from University of Alabama-Birmingham, has been allocated to the Magic City Court Kings (Birmingham, AL). Taylor averaged 15.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and shoot 50.6% from the field and almost 40% from beyond the 3-point arc for the season, while leading the 22-11 Blazers to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blazers season came to a conclusion after succumbing to the Arizona. Donnell had 13 points in the loss to the Wildcats. During his Junior season, the Montgomery, AL native averaged 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Before transferring to UAB, burned up the JUCO ranks at OKALOOSA-WALTON CC in Niceville, FL, where he was named first-team NJCAA All-American, leading the team to a 31-4 record and a sixth-place finish in the 2003 NJCAA National Tournament, while averaging 21.5 ppg, 6.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. He averaged 29.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists in four games during tournament play, including hitting for 45 points against Southwest Tennessee. Donnell played at Sidney Lanier HS and was named all-state as a senior, while leading his team to the 2001 6A state championship.

The 12 team WBA, in its second year of existence, is a developmental professional league designed to teach, develop, and expose basketball players to NBA, NBDL, CBA, and International Scouts while providing each community an exciting brand of basketball and entertainment.
