
U18 Update; Russia 4, USA 3

Team Russia, hosts of the 2013 IIHF World Under 18 Hockey Championship, opened the tournament with a 4-3 victory earlier today over Team USA.
Vladimir Tkachyov scored with 1:54 remaining in regulation to break a 3-3 tie and provide the Russian squad the victory in front of 6,500 spectators at the Bolshoy Ice Dome.
Trailing 2-0 midway through the first period, Nikita Setdikov put Team Russia on the board at the 7:43 mark as they trailed 2-1 after twenty minutes.
Pavel Buchnevich had the lone goal of the second period before Iiya Ivanov gave the Russian squad it's first lead of the game just 1:33 into the third period.
Team USA tied the game leading to the Tkachyov heroics in the final minutes.
Greyhound forward SERGEY TOLCHINSKY was kept off the scoresheet but played 23 minutes and 27 seconds for his club (2nd most for Team Russia in the game).

Team Russia will now face Team Finland on Saturday, April 20th.
