Maine Nordiques News Release
The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League are proud to announce that long time forward, Tyler Gaulin, has committed to playing Division 1 hockey at Mercyhurst.
Tyler is entering his third straight year with the Maine Nordiques organization. Tyler started his Nordiques journey late into the covid shortened 2019-2020 Inaugural Season of the Maine Nordiques; instantly he showed what he could do by scoring two goals in two straight games. Tyler would want to keep it rolling on the ice but Unfortunately he would have to wait till next season.
In the 2020-2021 season Tyler would make his full entry into the NAHL, as he racked up thirty-five points in 55 games played; he made sure the 2000 birth year Veterans on the squad know that if they had an off night he would be the one to help them out. Tyler finished last season tied for third on the team in points with thirty-five and the three players before him were all veterans in their second year, Tyler lead the newcomers in scoring. Tyler, also had the ice in the veins mentally which allowed for him to rack up four game winning goals, including two overtime winners as well. Gaulin is also a very disciplined player as he only got tagged for twenty-two penalty minutes in his fifty-five games last season.
In the 2021-2022 season and Tyler's last in junior hockey; he leads all Nordiques in points with twenty-one, power-play assist with nine, and the most shots on the team as well with forty-nine. ( as of 12/22/2021 ) Tyler is seven games away from breaking 100 games played in the NAHL as he sits at ninety-three.
When asked about Tyler Gaulin and how he is as a player and a person; Head coach Matt Pinchevsky said of him that:
"We are all incredibly proud of Tyler and the work that he continues to put into the team and his game. Tyler has been a resounding positive energy in our culture from his first time putting on a Nordiques uniform. Tyler has always helped our club produce offense, as he is currently our leading scorer. More importantly, he has grown into a leader in the room and a staple in the Nordiques community. Tyler is a loyal student-athlete and person who makes his teammates happy to be at the rink with him; we know he will bring those qualities to Coach Gotkin's program and we are very thankful for the work that his staff puts in to commit to their Lakers. We are very proud of Tyler and happy for the Gaulin Family on his commitment to Mercyhurst "
Congratulations to Tyler on his commitment to Mercyhurst! Say hi, to alumna - Noah Kane for us while you're at it! #RollNords
