Two-Time ArenaBowl Champion Joe Goosby Signs with Brigade

BALTIMORE, MD - The Baltimore Brigade announced today the signing of two-time ArenaBowl Champion (2016 and 2017), linebacker Joe Goosby, who is entering his ninth season with the Arena Football League.
Goosby, who played with the Philadelphia Soul for seven seasons, ranked third in tackles (33.5) last year for the Soul. Over his AFL career, Goosby has tallied an impressive 514.5 total tackles (415 solo), 37 pass break-ups, 18 forced fumbles, 13 fumble recovers, and five sacks. His career totals also include 18 interceptions for 212 yards and eight defensive touchdowns.
During his time with the Soul, Goosby made four ArenaBowl appearances. He was named to the First Team All-Arena in 2016 and earned spots on the Second Team All-Arena in 2017 and 2018. Prior to joining the Soul, Goosby played one season with the Dallas Vigilantes where he racked up 51 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception.
"Joe has played at a high level in the AFL for a long time," said Baltimore Brigade Head Coach Omarr Smith. "He is a natural leader and has great knowledge of the arena game. I look forward to working with him."
Before his season with the Vigilantes, Goosby joined the Indoor Football League's San Angelo Stampede Express in 2010 and the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in 2009. During his three seasons at Tulane University (2004-2006), Goosby had a total of 100 tackles (60 solo) in 33 career games.
Returning to Baltimore for a second season is defensive lineman Rodney Austin. Austin played in 11 regular season games for the Brigade and finished the season with six solo tackles. Also signed to the Brigade is defensive lineman Thomas Dover, who enters his third AFL season. In 2018, Dover started in 10 of 12 games for the Soul and had 8.5 total tackles.
The Brigade also signed offensive linemen Jarell Broxton from Baylor University, Lene Maiava from University of Arizona and Antoine Everett from McNeese State. Broxton, the All Big-12 first team selection, is from Gaithersburg, Maryland and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad in 2016. Maiava joins the Brigade from the Alliance of American Football league where he briefly played with the Arizona Hotshots. Everett was signed as an undrafted free agent with the practice squad of both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburg Steelers.
