ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators have agreed to terms with two-time All-Arena defensive lineman Willie McGinnis, the franchise has announced. McGinnis enters his fourth season in the Arena Football League.
"Willie is a high-energy player who excels at getting to the quarterback," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "He has the versatility to play a variety of positions on our defensive front and has a constant motor. He is yet another player who will provide us with a great pass rush in 2016."
McGinnis (6-3, 295, Rhode Island) spent the past two seasons with the Cleveland Gladiators, where he earned consecutive Second Team All-Arena honors. He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2014, logging 30 total tackles with nine sacks and 10 stops for loss. McGinnis improved on those numbers in 2015 and is coming off his most productive AFL season after racking up 31 total tackles with 9.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.
McGinnis entered the Arena Football League as a rookie with the Pittsburgh Power in 2013. Over the course of his three-year career, he has registered 86 total tackles with 22.5 sacks and 29 tackles for loss while adding 30 quarterback hurries, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, and one safety.
A native of Norwich, New York, McGinnis played college football at the University of Rhode Island, where he started all 45 games of his career. He earned Second Team All-CAA accolades and was named his team's Defensive MVP as a senior in 2011.
