EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that wide receiver Sherman Gant and offensive lineman Dunnielle Anderson have signed contracts to play with the BlueCats during the 2007 indoor football season. Gant returns to Evansville after playing with the team last season, while Anderson is a newcomer for the BlueCats.
Last season, Gant had 3 receptions for 55 with the BlueCats, but 2 of his receptions resulted in big plays that went for touchdowns. Gant recorded his receptions in 2 different games, scoring once in each game. His touchdowns were on pass plays of 25 and 22 yards. Sherman played college football for North Park University in Chicago. In 2005, he led the North Park team with 52 receptions and 888 yards in only 10 games on his way to All-CCIW second team honors.
BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "We're looking forward to having Sherman back in Evansville next year. He's without a doubt one of the fastest guys on our team and he has the ability to break a game open with his speed."
Dunnielle Anderson will make his debut with the BlueCats this season after playing in college at Morgan State. The 6', 319-pound lineman was a college teammate of current Evansville BlueCats wide receiver Tommy Manus. Manus was scouted and placed by the coaches and staff of the indoor football scouting bureau.
Manus said of Anderson, "He's (one of) the best lineman I've ever seen."
