Amsterdam Mohawks News Release
The Amsterdam Mohawks have signed two players who are making major contributions at the University of Kentucky this spring. Freshman outfielder Kyle Barrett and left-handed pitcher Dylan Dwyer have been instrumental in the 14th ranked Wildcats early season success.
Barrett, has been UK's starting right fielder over the past 5 weeks and is currently serving as the team's leadoff hitter. He is leading the Wildcats in hitting with a .343 average in 19 games started. Dwyer, meanwhile, has 9 appearances out of the bullpen and in 9.1 innings pitched has a 5.00 ERA.
These two follow the footsteps of almost 20 Wildcats who have spent their summers in Amsterdam. That list includes LHP Logan Darnell 2008 (6th round draft pick), SS Chris Bisson 2008 (4th round draft pick), RHP Braden Kapteyn 2009 (15th round draft pick), OF Cory Farris 2009 (43rd round draft pick, C Luke Maile 2010-11 (8th round draft pick), and last year's PGCBL's top pro prospect RHP Chandler Shepherd.
