Two former Quincy Gems selected in MLB draft

Zach Kometani, who played for the Gems in 2010, was selected in the 21st round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the San Diego Padres. He was the 653rd player taken overall. Kometani batted .315 with 8 HRs and 30 RBIs for the Gems last season.

Matt Tracy, who played for the Gems in 2009, was selected in the 43rd round of the draft by the Florida Marlins. Tracy, who played at the University of Mississippi, pitched in 8 games for the Gems, going 2-2 with a 4.08 ERA.
