Sounders Seek First Victory Over Winless Toronto
Satuday, May 20th is Military Appreciation Night
The Sounders look to earn their first victory of the 2006 season when they face the Toronto Lynx on Saturday, May 20th. Looking to have a handful of injured players return to action, the Sounders finish a string of three games in seven days when Toronto visits Seattle. Kick off is set for 7pm at Qwest Field.
The Sounders (0-2-1, 1pt) are coming off of a tough 2-1 loss to the Rochester Raging Rhinos last Wednesday. The Sounders had opportunities early, but it was Rochester who took a late 1-0 lead in the 70th minute. The Sounders tied the game in the 85th minute as Midfielder Andrew Gregor whipped a corner kick to the back post where Forward Cam Weaver drilled a header into the net. With five minutes of added time at the end of the match the Raging Rhinos capitalized on a loose ball in the box; Tacoma native and former Sounder, Greg Howes delivered the game winner to keep Rochester?s four-game winning streak alive.
The Sounders are hoping to have several players back from injuries on Saturday; including veteran Midfielder Leighton O?Brien, Midfielder Santa Maria Rivera and Defender Noah Merl.
The Sounders face a Toronto (0-3-0, 0pts) side that has yet to win or score a goal this season. Toronto is the only club in the USL First Division that has yet earn a point.
The Sounders and Lynx square off at 7pm at Qwest Field on Saturday, May 20th. May 20th is Military Appreciation Night, the first 1,000 fans receive a limited edition Sounders Military Appreciation Night Commemorative Coin.
