Halifax Rainmen News Release
The Halifax Rainmen are very pleased to announce that power forward Josh Dollard will join their roster for the 2010-11 Premier Basketball League (PBL) playoffs.
This week, the PBL ruled that a previously injured Dollard would not be allowed to return to the Rainmen due to the timing of players previously released. It was deemed that the only way Dollard could be taken off injured reserve to re-join the Rainmen was if DeAndre Thomas was released from the team.
Due to the ruling on Dollard and the sudden release of power forward Kavon Jones, the Rainmen were forced to go into their Thursday night battle with only eight players.
During the Rainmen's victorious Thursday night game, forward Danny Sumner suffered a twisted ankle, which forced the Rainmen to file for hardship on Friday morning.
After filing hardship, the Rainmen learned that through a series of careful transactions, they could see both Dollard and Thomas in their playoff lineup.
By removing Thomas from the roster, the Rainmen were allowed to reactivate Dollard. The Rainmen then placed Danny Sumner on injured reserve, and reactivated Thomas.
"We're so excited to have our best player (Dollard) back in uniform," said Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston. "Having both Josh and DeAndre in our lineup will be a huge confidence booster for our team. We're feeling very confident and look forward to a great series against the reigning champions of our league."
Tomorrow afternoon, Dollard and Thomas will join their teammates as they face the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry in the first of three playoff match-ups.
Tickets for tomorrow's 4:00 playoff game can be purchased at any Ticket Atlantic location or at the Metro Centre Box Office.
