Turner Edges Haughbook For SIFL VIDSWAP.COM POTW Honors

LAKE CHARLES, La. (June 10, 2009) - Austin Turfcat defensive back J.R. Turner has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's VIDSWAP.com Player Of The Week by virtue of his performance and fan vote.
Turner registered two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery in the Turfcats' 71-15 victory over the North Texas Crunch. He garnered 33 percent of the fan vote to narrowly outdistance Houma Conqueror quarterback Omar Haughbook, who led the team to its first victory with three second-half touchdowns against the Texas Pirates. Haughbook received 30 percent of the voting thanks to a strong first-time effort by Houma fans visiting the league web site at www.southernifl.com.
A Turfcat has won the fan balloting five of the eight weeks.
Each SIFL game has four MVPs for offensive, defensive, line and special teams. Two game MVPS are selected for balloting for the league-wide MVP by fans.
Austin (5-1) travels to face the Louisiana Swashbucklers (6-1) Monday.
