
Turfcat Wallace Snags VIDSWAP.COM POTW Award

LAKE CHARLES, La. (May 6, 2009) -- Austin Turfcats WR Darrick Wallace as been named the Southern Indoor Football League's VIDSWAP.COM com player of the week by virtue of his performance and fan vote.
Wallace posted five catches for 54 yards and one touchdown receiving while returning three kickoffs for 73 yards in the Turfcats' stunning 56-53 upset of the Louisiana Swashbucklers. He received 59 percent of a record-high 945 fan votes to outdistance Acadiana Mudbugs DB Kemmie Lewis.
For the season, Wallace, a former Grambling standout, has six catches for 65 yards and one touchdown. His kickoff return average of 22.5 yards on eight returns ranks second in the SIFL. Each SIFL game has four MVPs for offensive, defensive, line and special teams. Two game MVPS are selected for balloting for the league-wide MVP by fans at the official league website at www.southernifl.com.
On Thursday, May 14, the SIFL will release its ``Players Of The Quarter'' awards as determined by league coaches and SIFL staff.
Austin (2-1) hosts Houma (0-3) and Acadiana (3-0) travels to Louisiana (21-1) Saturday in week five of the SIFL's inaugural season.
