
Tulsa's Robert Vaden Signs with Oklahoma

NEW YORK, April 9, 2011 - The Oklahoma City Thunder signed guard/forward Robert Vaden of the Tulsa 66ers for the remainder of the season today for the 23rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Vaden's call-up, his first, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience to 99.
Vaden (6-5, 205) averaged 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 45 games (17 starts) in the regular season for Tulsa, helping the 66ers to a 33-17 record and a berth in the NBA D-League Playoffs. Tulsa advanced to the semifinals with a two-game sweep of the Texas Legends in which Vaden averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Vaden was selected in the second round (54th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats, who then traded his rights to Oklahoma City in a draft-night deal. Vaden spent last season with Imola in Italy, averaging 16.9 points in 29 games.
Vaden played his first two collegiate seasons at Indiana, and was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore. He then transferred to Alabama-Birmingham, and was named Conference USA's Newcomer of the Year as a junior, averaging 21.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. As a senior, Vaden averaged 17.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists, good for All-Conference USA Second Team honors.
