Tulsa Shock and Williams Open Nominations Statewide for Women of Inspiration

TULSA, Okla. - For the fifth consecutive year, Williams and the Tulsa Shock have partnered to honor inspirational women who serve Tulsa, and now Oklahoma City with relentless dedication and passion while impacting the lives of area youth and the entire community.

"Williams is proud to partner with the Tulsa Shock, a team of women who inspire others through their professional and community dedication," said Robyn Ewing, SVP and Chief Administrative Officer at Williams. "A Shock game is the perfect venue to celebrate some of our state's most inspirational women."

Last season's Williams Women of Inspiration honorees were Mia Fleming, Becky Frank, Nancy McDonald, Sabrina Ware, and Sharon King-Davis, who was named the 2014 top honoree.

Again for 2015, one honoree will be awarded a trip to the 2015 National Women of Inspiration Luncheon celebration in New York City. Past National Women of Inspiration guest speakers include US Women's Olympic Team athletes, journalist Katie Couric, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and media personality Robin Roberts.

"The Tulsa Shock is proud to partner with Williams for the fifth consecutive year to recognize deserving inspirational women in our community and our region," Shock President Steve Swetoha said. "The program has been so successful and with the help of our great partners in Williams, we have decided to take this program statewide." With this year being the sixth season in Tulsa, our Williams Women of Inspiration celebration will have a special meaning to the Shock and the community."

All 2015 nominees will be invited to attend a pre-game reception hosted at the BOK Center before the June 28 game against the Seattle Storm, which will include a guest speaker. Past keynote speakers have been University of Oklahoma women's basketball head coach Sherri Coale, University of Notre Dame women's basketball head coach Muffet McGraw, and former WNBA player and current Langston University women's basketball head coach Cheryl Miller.

All nominees will also receive two tickets to the game. The five top honorees will receive a concourse table to promote an organization or cause of their choice, four tickets to the game, on-court recognition, a special prize pack and an appreciation award from Williams and the Tulsa Shock.
