
Try your luck with the Cougars in Turlock

Stockton, CA - The Stockton Cougars, of the Professional Premier Arena Soccer League, announce open tryouts for their upcoming fall season at Turlock Indoor Soccer on May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Local athletes are encourage to participate, registration is $25. Several local athletes seen at last year's tryouts advanced to the Cougars' training camp.
The Cougars are in their fourth year of existence and their first as a member of the PRO-PASL. The team held tryouts last year in various locations including Turlock Indoor Soccer, Big League Dreams in Manteca and Estadio Azteca in Sacramento.
Cougars second year head coach Bernie Lilavois will once again participate in the tryouts and evaluate the local talent. He took over as the coach of the Cougars during the 2006-07 season. He posted an 11-19 record in his first full season at the helm of the Cougars. The Cougars had previously never won more than 10 games before Lilavois took over. Lilavois will be joined by members of the Stockton Pumas and Stockton Cougars at the event. The Pumas are the official reserve squad of the Cougars.
Last year's tryouts drew players from all over California. The majority of the hopefuls made the trek from Southern California in an attempt to make the professional team. Some even traveled from as far as Europe to try their luck with coach Lilavois and the Cougars.
