Truchon-Viel Suspended 4 Games

Published on February 20, 2018 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

Boucherville - The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended Jeffrey Truchon-Viel of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan for 4 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on February 17th against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

After being hit by the opponent, the player at fault accelerated, headed towards the opponent and hit him. The player at fault gained speed and then propelled himself to hit the opponent. His shoulder made contact with the head and his skates left the ice after impact. This is not the first offense of the player at fault.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
