INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Florida Tropics will look to slow the roll of the San Diego Sockers as the two teams meet in game two of their Major Arena Soccer League playoff series being played at Cable Dahmer Arena outside Kansas City This weekend.

The Sockers took a 5-4 overtime win over the Tropics in game one. Should the Tropics prevail in the 3:05 p.m. (EST) start today, the two teams will immediately play a 15-minute "mini game" to decide who advances to the MASL finals set next weekend in St. Louis.

Historically, it's a David vs. Goliath matchup. The iconic Sockers franchise, which dates back to the 1970s, will be appearing in their 196th playoff game in team history, with an overall record of 121-74 in that span. Florida is participating in its first playoffs in the team's five-year history in Lakeland, with Thursday's loss the team's first ever appearance in post-season play.

The winner today will face the winner of the Ontario Fury v. Kansas City Comet who are matched up in the other semi-finals. Ontario took game one, in double overtime, by an 8-7 final.

The Tropics will need to get off to a stronger start today, having scored just one goal through the first three quarters of Thursday's loss. A three-goal fourth actually gave Florida a 4-3 lead with about two and a half minutes to play, but the Sockers got the equalizer while employing the sixth attacker about a minute later to force overtime.

The game will be broadcast live on the MASL's pay-per-view Facebook platform. Visit maslsoccer.com for further information and a link to the broadcast ($7.99). For the latest on the Tropics, visit fltropics.com.
