Tropics Drop Second Straight Overtime Game, this Time 4-3 to San Diego Sockers

LAKELAND, Fla. -- For the second straight night at home, the Florida Tropics came up just short in overtime.

After ralling to the Tacoma Stars 7-6 on Thursday -- the Stars got the game winner just nine seconds into the extra period -- San Diego's Leonardo De Olivera scored 2:57 into overtime Friday night to lift the Sockers to a 4-3 Major Arena Soccer League win.

San Diego came out or the gates flying, with Gerardo Jurado converting a restart jus 24 seconds into the contest. The Sockers went up 2-0 when De Olivera got his first or the game at the 8:09 mark or the opening period.

But is was Florida on fire to start the second quarter, scoring three goals in a four minute span to open the frame. Joshio Sandoval started the barrage with a goal at the 1:27 mark. Ricardo Carvalho drilled one home from 40 feet at the 3:47 mark, and Anthony Arico put Florida on top 3-2 scoring just 61 seconds after the Carvalho goal.

There was only one goal in the entire second half, coming midway through the third as Cesar Cerda found the mark for San Diego to tie the game.

San Diego (2-2) outshot the Tropics, 17-13. Florida fell to 7-3.
