'Tropics Blitz' Will Make Hundreds of Free Tickets Available to Home Games Starting Saturday
December 14, 2021 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - Local sports fans will get a chance to see professional indoor soccer action at the RP Funding Center this winter with free tickets available for all 12 of the Florida Tropics home games in the Major Arena Soccer League.
The Tropics joined the MASL in 2016-17 - a national league with teams in San Diego, Baltimore, Kansas City, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Dallas and even Chihuahua, Mexico, among its 12 franchises - and over the past two regular seasons have posted a 28-6 record, best in the league.
With the ongoing pandemic presenting challenges of all kinds to local fans and families, the Tropics have partnered with their longtime sponsors - including title sponsor Bond Clinic - to offer free general admission tickets to all its home games this winter.
Fans will get their first chance to see the Tropics - who opened the season Dec. 4 and 5 with road wins in Baltimore and Utica - this Saturday when they host the Ontario Fury at 5:05 p.m.
"We know it has been difficult for many to get out and enjoy fun family entertainment, so in talking with many of our sponsors, we all immediately come to the conclusion that we wanted to make hundreds of tickets each game available to people throughout Polk County and Central Florida," said Tropics CEO Dr. Panos Iakovidis. "It's a great afternoon or evening of exciting sports action, and fans can cheer their hometown team on to what we hope will be another great regular season."
Fans simply play to park at the RP Funding Center, where the team plays its home games. They then take their parking receipt to the arena box office to exchange that for the same number of free general admission tickets as there were occupants of the parking vehicle. Single occupant vehicles pay $10 to park while multi-vehicle occupants (up to eight) pay $20. Vehicles like buses and large passenger vans (with nine or more occupants) will be charged $30.
"There isn't a bad seat in the entire RP Funding Center for indoor soccer," Dr. Iakovidis said. "The game is fast paced, lots of offense, easy to understand and follow, so kids and families have loved coming to games over the past five years. This season, we just wanted to give back to the community that's supported us for the past five years by making it easier to attend any of our games."
The Fury and Tropics will meet again Sunday afternoon in a 3:05 p.m. kickoff. The team will then be off for the holidays before hosting Utica City FC on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 3:05 p.m.
