Tropical Storm Claims Thursday Home Game, Wednesday Doubleheader

June 17, 2015 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
East Texas PumpJacks News Release

Tropical Storm Bill's heavy rain has forced the Pump Jacks out of their Thursday home game with the Victoria Generals as well as their Wednesday doubleheader with the Texas Marshals in Plano.

It's the fourth week of the season and the Texas Collegiate League has added a new opponent: Tropical Storm Bill.

For the second consecutive day, the weather system has wiped out all TCL games, including the East Texas Pump Jacks' scheduled doubleheader Thursday night at the Texas Marshals.

Because of the continued rain, the Pump Jacks have postponed their Thursday home game against the Victoria Generals as well.

East Texas and Victoria will now play a doubleheader on Friday night starting 6:05 p.m. This is the last Pump Jacks home game before Father's Day, and with two games now for one price, it makes a great way to celebrate dad!

Fans with tickets for Thursday's game may exchange them for tickets to any other home Pump Jacks game this summer, subject to ticket availability.

The rain was to blame for the cancellation of the series opener with Texas on Tuesday, and it kept on through the night into Wednesday, leaving Graham Field in Plano unplayable. Tyler was doused with a generous share of rain as well, and Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark will need another day to get into game shape.

The Pump Jacks have won their last three games, including a weekend sweep of the Woodlands Strykers at home. They'll now look to extend the streak against the Generals, who hold a half-game lead on the Jacks in the standings.

After the two-for-one at home, the Jacks will travel to The Woodlands for a series with the Strykers on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday will also be a doubleheader to make up for an early-season rainout.
