Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team Announced

TRENTON, NJ - What type of personalities make up the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team?. Just like the Freedom roster, a diverse list of personalities has been put together to form a talented unit.

Under the direction of Freedom Dance Team Coordinator Kathleen Rudolph Ross and Assistant Laura Mentzer, of Kay's Act II Dance Studio in Trevose, Pa., the team will appear at all Freedom home games and in the community..

The members of the 2014 Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team are:

* Carolyn Cunningham, who wanted to be a part of the team because it gives her an opportunity to use her foundation and love of dancing to get involved and be a part of a great organization. Dancing also helps her feel close to her father, who was her biggest supporter and a huge football fan. Carolyn is pursuing a Master's in Radiologic Imaging/Science Management at Thomas Jefferson University.

* Adrienne Brewster is a resident of Ewing, and wanted to be a part of the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team because of the opportunity to participate in something positive for my community while doing something that I love. She is a cosmetologist who is building her own business and enjoys working with kids.

* Laura McHugh is a resident of Feasterville, Pa., who is a graduate of La Salle University and a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan. With 18 years of dancing experience, her motto is "Be who you are, and be that well.''

* Brianna Colwell is a native of the Jersey Shore community of Point Pleasant. Having danced at Rider University, she enjoys going to the beach, ballet, hip-Priscillhop, contemporary and Jazz. Football is her favorite sport and the New York Giants her favorite team. Her dream vacation is a trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

* Ashley Alvarez, the Administrative Assistant for the Dance Department at Rider University and a Dance Teacher and Choreographer at Jersey City Dance Academy, wanted to be part of the Trenton Extreme Dance Team to be a part of a professional dance team and to encourage our football team. She lives by, "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion,'' a comment by Martha Graham.

* Terri Hart, who is a first-generation American. Her parents and most of her extended family is Trinidadian. She also operates a freelance journalistic operation under her business name, Terrific Woods. Her dream job would be to be a columnist discussing education or random acts of kindness. She shares her birthday with Nelson Mandela.

* Priscilla Rodriguez is a Trenton native who wanted to be part of the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team to be part of a positive movement for Trenton and her love of dancing. If she ever won the lottery, she would open her own dance studio, which is a dream, and put money aside for her nieces' and nephews' college fund.

* Miranda Magro has been an instructor at Kay's Act II Dance Studio, run by Rudolph-Ross since she was 15. A student at Bucks County Community college and a native of Northampton, Pa., she also works in the Entertainment Department at Sesame Place, across the road from the Freedom offices in Langhorne, Pa., She also enjoys the warm sunshine on a beautiful beach.

* Rachel Liberto, a senior at Rider University, where she was awarded the Mildred C. Hawkins Scholarship for her excellence in the Dance Department. She also is an active member of the Rider Dance Ensemble, an organization for which she is the Alumni Chair, and the Rider Dance Team. She recently, in addition to joining the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team, has been taken on as an apprentice by by the Alchemy Dance Company, a Philadelphia-based contemporary jazz troupe.

* Aleesa Tucker, another Ewing resident, has a Bachelor's in Dance Performance and aims to be a Professor of Dance at a University and involved with choreography or the Jazz Dance World Congress. She aims to finish work on a Ph.D in Dance. Her words to live by: "Put it in a bubble and blow it away.''

* Danielle Minichino is a junior at Rider University, studying dance and behavioral neuroscience. She is an active member of the Rider Dance Ensemble and excited to be a member of the Trenton Extreme Dance Team. What does this Brick, N.J., native do when she is not dancing? She works in the microbial genetics laboratory at Rider. Danielle aspires to travel the world after spending five months in Australia in 2013.

* Fantaija Graves, a Trenton resident, joined the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team to enhance her love of dancing and the impact it will have on her hometown. Having attended Temple University, she plans to study to be an athletic trainer/physical therapist at Kean starting this fall. Her dream job is to be part of a professional dance company or sports team. The Freedom is more than glad to give her a start on the latter.

* Tara Kelly is a computer programmer who tells young dancers to, "Be passionate. Enjoy it.'' She loves to shop in Thrift Stores and feels her parents were most influential in her life. She has been dancing since she was 2. Her favorite food is Grilled Chicken Salad.

* Celeste Jones, another Trenton native, wanted to be a part of the Trenton Freedom Extreme Dance Team because she loves to both dance and represent her home town in a positive way. She has been dancing for 15 years and is an Empire Beauty School graduate. Her advice to others, "Never give up. Practice makes perfect. Take criticism as advice.

The Freedom will open their inaugural PIFL season at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, hosting the Richmond Raiders. Both season and single-game tickets are available by calling 1-800-521-FREE (3733) or by going to http://www.trentonfreedom.com/tickets.html.

In addition to the opener with Richmond, which will make a return visit May 3, the Freedom will welcome Professional Indoor League foes Columbus (April 19), Harrisburg (May 11), Lehigh Valley (May 24) and Georgia (June 21).
