Daytona Tortugas News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas were named winners of their first ever Golden Bobbleheads Thursday evening at the Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar. The Tortugas' Bob Ross Night was honored with both the Best Theme Night and the Best Overall Promotion Award.
It's the first Golden Bobbleheads for Daytona in the awards seven year history. Daytona had never been previously nominated. These awards come on the heels of Daytona winning the Home Field Advantage award for the Florida State League earlier this week.
Bob Ross was born and raised in Volusia County and was celebrated at the Tortugas July 15th home game. The day began with a Bob Ross themed fun run in the morning and continued with a sold out paint class in the afternoon. The paint class was taught by seven certified painters from the Bob Ross Workshop. The Tortugas held a Happy Little Tree dedication, planting a tree on the Riverwalk in Bob's honor.
The night also included the first ever Bob Ross Bobblehead, a lookalike contest, Bob Ross themed on-field promotions, Bob Ross giveaways and more. It was the largest July crowd in Daytona history, excluding July 3rd and 4th.
