Tortugas Suspended Tuesday in Jupiter

JUPITER, FL - The Daytona Tortugas and Palm Beach Cardinals were suspended Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium with the Cardinals leading, 1-0, in the bottom of the second inning.

Palm Beach took the lead in the first inning with a two-out RBI single to left field from Danny Diekroger against RHP Wyatt Strahan. The Tortugas put five me on base through the first two innings, but hit into a pair of inning-ending double plays.

The game was suspended with a runner at second and two outs in the bottom of the second and a 1-0 count on Lane Thomas. The game will resume from there on Wednesday at 4:30 PM. The regularly scheduled game will then begin 30 minutes after the completion of the resumed game and will be seven innings long.

It's the first suspended game for Daytona since July of last season. The Tortugas was rained out Monday in Daytona.

The Tortugas will return home Friday, July 21st, to begin a series with the Jupiter Hammerheads with Sager Strong Night. Vince Carter and Craig Sager's family will be in attendance and the Tortugas will wear Sager themed speciality jerseys.

Wednesday's doubleheader can be heard on AM 1230 and AM 1490 WSBB beginning with The Metcare Pregame Show at 4:20 PM.
