Toros Score 3 in Win over OKC Energy

Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, TEXAS, April 29, 2017- The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros defeated OKC Energy FC by a score of 3-0. Eric Bird, Joseph Holland, and Jose Escalante scored the goals for the Toros.
The Toros wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the 8th minute, Eric Bird found space after Joseph Holland placed a through ball and faced Cody Laurendi, goalkeeper for OKC Energy FC, one-on-one. After juking out Laurendi, Bird scored into the open net.
RGV's Calle Brown's spectacular save in the 24th minute kept his clean sheet alive. Brown denied Energy FC's Miguel Gonzalez from bringing the game to a draw. Joseph Holland doubled the lead for the Toros in the 38th minute. Taylor Hunter headed back an Emilio Garcia cross. After a slight deflection from an OKC defender, Holland blasted his volley into the back of the net.
Rio Grande Valley kept creating opportunities in the second half. Jose Escalante's connected with a corner kick in the 64th minute. Unfortunately Cody Laurendi was able to stop his volley from going in. Jose Escalante found the back of the net just minutes later. Escalante dribbled the ball and slipped the ball through Laurendi who had left his line.
The Toros offense had nine total shots on goal in the match. From those nine shots, eight of them were on target.
After facing OKC Energy FC, the RGV FC Toros will not return to action until May 13 when Swope Park Rangers comes into town followed by LA Galaxy II on May 20.
