Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros announced Friday that the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired the contract of Pitcher Andrew Snowdon. The righthander has excelled in his first taste of professional baseball, posting a 2.97 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings out of the Toros bullpen. Snowdon's brilliance lead to his selection to represent the Golden Baseball League in the International All-Star Game where he struck out two batters in a scoreless inning. Snowdon is expected to be assigned to the Single-A Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League.
The Toros drafted the Renton, Washington native with their 1st Round Pick (8 th overall) out of the Arizona Winter League, a premier winter instructional league for professional and aspiring professional baseball players. Snowdon went 5-1 in the AWL, leading the league with 39 innings pitched and ranking second in strikeouts with 39. Andrew previous played for the Wildcats of Central Washington University.
