Texas Tornado News Release

The Texas Tornado earned 4 out of a possible 6 points this past weekend as they hosted the Santa Fe Roadrunners. On Friday, forward #19 Andrew Harrison scored the first Tornado goal when he converted on a turnover and subsequent breakaway. However, the momentum shifted in the 2nd period, as Santa Fe scored back-to-back goals just :39 seconds apart past Tornado goaltender #20 Matt DiGirolamo, who was seeing his first start since early December. For the rest of the game, the Tornado had plenty of chances, especially on the power play, but it just wasn't their night with the man advantage. Finally, in the 3rd period, defenseman #3 Lyon Messier's one-timer found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. For the night the Tornado would end up only 1 for 12 on the power play, while Santa Fe was a dismal 0 for 5. After a #18 Tom Train miss and another Santa Fe miss, it was up to veteran forward #9 Justin King who converted on the penalty shot to give the Tornado the 3-2 win.
