Topeka RoadRunners Hire New Assistant Coach

TOPEKA, Kan.- Vinny Bohn, former assistant coach of the Atlanta Capitals, joins the Topeka RoadRunners coaching staff as their new assistant coach.

He started playing juniors in 2007 with the Green Mountain Glades in the Empire Junior Hockey League. Bohn moved to Minnesota Junior Hockey League as a defenseman for the Granite City Lumberjacks and in his first season finished third place at nationals. Bohn then moved on to play with the El Paso Rhinos in the Western States Hockey League where in his last year of juniors made it all the way to the National Championship game.

He was then recruited to Worcester State University where he played four years of NCAA hockey. He helped the Lancers make the playoffs all four years and win a playoff game for the first time thirty years. Bohn graduated with a degree in psychology.

"From coaching with my brother, the players, and everybody in the city of Sandy Springs, last year was a special year. I do want to thank Don and Barbara Stone, and the RoadRunner organization for this opportunity," he said.

Bohn began working for the Capitals in 2013 as the Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting. He became the full time assistant coach for the 2015-2016 season.

Bohn was brought in by the RoadRunners during the tail end of the 2015-2016 season and playoffs, he transitioned to the position of assistant coach.
