New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (August 16, 2012) - Recapping the 2012 season that saw the club finish in the postseason for only the second time in team history, the New Orleans VooDoo will be counting down its Top 10 plays of the year. This first edition includes No. 10 and No. 9.
No. 9: Joe Alajajian leaps over defensive back, goes 28-yards for a touchdown at San Jose SaberCats (7.07).
Although the VooDoo didn't leave SaberCat Country with a victory, that didn't stop rumbling, tumbling fullback Joe Alajajian from executing one of the more memorable plays of the 2012 season when he caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Rocco. Alajajian caught a pass for what looked to be a 5-yard gain, but he made something out of nothing by leaping over a San Jose defender to go the distance to give the VooDoo their first touchdown of the game early in the second quarter. It was Alajajian's first touchdown reception of his career, and he finished with 2 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown.
No. 10: Gladel Brutus 54-yard interception return for a touchdown at the Utah Blaze (3.31).
With 44 seconds left in the game and Utah's Tommy Grady and Co. threatening to score and an attempt at a comeback, Gladel Brutus put himself on the map for the VooDoo Nation by stepping in front of a would-be receiver for an interception. Brutus caught the interception in stride, and returned it 54 yards to give the VooDoo the two-score lead. On the ensuing drive, Grady was intercepted again by Alvin Ray Jackson to all but seal the VooDoo's first win of the season, 72-57.
