(NASHUA, NH, January 8, 2007) The Nashua Pride today announced that the Can-Am League has sold the contract of Pride catcher Tommy Rojas to Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals.

Rojas is no stranger to affiliated baseball as he was originally selected by the Yankees in the 30th round of 2000 draft. Rojas has spent five seasons in professional baseball accumulating a career .271 average, 64 doubles, 174 RBI and 24 home runs in 366 games played.

Last season, for the Pride, the righthander hit .320 with 13 doubles, 5 HR and 27 RBI in 58 games. After Nashua's season finished in 2006, the Nevada native joined the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League where he hit .239 with an additional 5 HR and 9 RBI in just 14 games.

Pride Vice President of Baseball Operations Chris Hall comments on Rojas, "It comes as no surprise to this organization, that such a talented and hard working player like Tommy is headed back to a Major League club. He played a big role for the team last year and we wish him the best of luck."

Rojas makes it a total of three Pride players from the 2006 roster to have had their contracts sold to Major League teams. The former Yankee farm hand joins lefty starter Jon Connolly and righthanded reliever Jamie Baker who have linked up with the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres respectfully.

The Nashua Pride, entering its tenth anniversary season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The Pride is participating in its 2nd year of play in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball and plays its home games at Historic Holman Stadium.
