Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN - An early third period goal lifted the Johnstown Tomahawks to a close 4-3 win over the New Jersey Titans, moving the team's win streak to 11 games on Friday night.

New Jersey began the period by peppering Tomahawks goalie Carter McPhail with shots but McPhail warmed to the task.

Johnstown would take advantage of a New Jersey error in the Tomahawks defensive zone when Roman Kraemer finished off a two-on-one with Joey Kile to put the Hawks ahead 1-0. Sam Solensky continued his point streak with a secondary assist.

The Titans beat McPhail three minutes later when Kyler Head's shot lasered past the goaltender glove side.

New Jersey gained the lead at 17:40 with a goal from Cam Gendron to skate into the first intermission 2-1.

Just 36 seconds into the second period, the Titans added to their advantage with goal from Zach Nazzarett. Ryan Naumovski and Kyle Jeffers assisted on the goal.

However, the Tomahawks cut the lead to 3-2 at the 3:49 mark of the second frame.

Alex Wilkins' shot from the point was deflect by the stick of Andy Nedeljkovic and beat Titans goalie Matt Ladd. For Nedeljkovic, the goal was his third of the season. Christian Gorscak picked up the secondary assist.

Johnstown fought back to tie the game at 15:19 as Colin Price tipped a pass from Gorscak over the shoulder of Ladd for a 3-3 tie heading into intermission.

The Tomahawks regained the lead at 4-3 early in the third when Mitch Hale ripped a shot far side behind Ladd which proved to be the game-winner.

The 4-3 victory moves Johnstown's winning streak to 11 consecutive games.

McPhail, in his 11th win on the season, stopped 41 of 44 Titans shots. HIs record improved to 11-1-0.

The Tomahawks are back on home ice Saturday for Star Wars Night presented by Beginnings, Inc. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., at 1st Summit Arena.
