The Johnstown Tomahawks won 2-1 in the first of three games this weekend in Johnstown against the Philadelphia Rebels. Alec Rajalin-Scharp made 28 saves in net for the Tomahawks.
After a scoreless first period, Justin Rapp broke the ice for the Tomahawks 12:40 into the second period. Following just 28 seconds later, Philadelphia's Maxwell Marquette tied the game at one. Through two periods, shots were nearly even with Johnstown leading 24-23.
Nick Ahern came through and gave the Tomahawks the lead with 6:24 remaining in regulation, scoring his tenth goal of the season on the power play. Ahern's goal went on to be the game-winner as the Tomahawks topped the Rebels 2-1.
The two teams are back in action again tomorrow night at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for Pucks & Paws Night at 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com. Bring your furry friend to the game for a $5 donation to the Cambria County and Somerset County Humane Societies.
