
Tomahawks Fall to Rebels, Split Weekend Series

ASTON - The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the Aston Rebels 5-1 on Saturday night at the Aston Ice Works Complex. The Tomahawks split their weekend series, after shutting out the Rebels 4-0 Friday night.
Aston got on the board first, as Dom Garcia scored 2:50 into the first period. Ryan Cusin and Kristofers Bundulis added the assists on the goal. The Rebels extended the lead just under a minute later, as Evgeny Yakovlev scored at 3:43.
Cusin gave the Rebels a 3-0 lead, scoring at 7:52 of the first period. Michael Merulla and Garcia picked up assists on the goal.
Johnstown got on the board three minutes into the second period, as Ryan Burr's shot from above the right face-off circle found the back of the net. Niko Coffman and Andrew Romano provided assists on the power-play goal.
Cusin regained the three-goal lead for the rebels, scoring his second of the game at 10:57 of the second period. Bindulis and Jerry Miettuten recorded assists on the goal. The Rebels extended their lead in the third period, as Cusin scored his third of the game at 11:44.
Trevor Micucci earned the win, stopping 22 of 23 shots. Glander suffered the loss, allowing two goals on three shots in the first 3:43 of the first period. Andrew Lindgren came into the game to replace Glander, stopping 16 of 19 shots.
Johnstown returns home to take on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton next Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2. Saturday night's game features the Guns and Hoses game, presented by Firehouse Subs and Fan Appreciation Night.
