Tomahawks Defeat Warriors 2-1 in Shootout

The Johnstown Tomahawks picked up their first home win of the season with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Michigan Warriors on Faith and Family night presented by Word of Life. Jake Houston scored the game-winner in the 7th round.

Cam Bleck got the Tomahawks on the board first, after Dakoda Menslage's shot deflected off of Michigan goaltender Trevor Gorsuch. Bleck took the deflection in front of the net, firing a shot into the left side of the net at 5:38 of the first period.

Michigan tied the game later in the period, as Zed Dietrich scored on a shot from the left side of Tomahawks goaltender Ryan Bednard at 8:02.

After a scoreless overtime period, the teams battled in a seven-round shootout. Zach Zech got the Tomahawks on the board in the first round. Mitch Wedding kept the Warriors alive in the fifth round, before Houston scored the game winner between the legs of Gorsuch.

Bednard earned the win, stopping 29 of 30 shots in regulation and all 7 in the shootout. Gorsuch took the loss, stopping 40 of 41 shots in regulation and 5 of 7 in the shootout. Neither team scored on the man advantage, with Johnstown going 0-for-6 and Michigan going 0-for-5.
