
Tomahawks Clinch Playoff Spot with 3-1 Win over Rebels

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks used a 3-1 win Saturday night to sweep the Jamestown Rebels and in the process became the first team to clinch a playoff spot in the 2019 Robertson Cup Playoffs.

1st Period Recap
Johnstown fired home the game's first goal after Carson Brière sniped a shot over the glove of Rebels goalie Ryan Keane for a 1-0 lead.
For Brière, the goal was his 28th of the season and 20th power play goal on the season. It was assisted by Sam Solensky and Oliver Benwell.
The Rebels tied the score 1-1 with a goal from Antonio Venuto.

2nd Period Recap
Prior to the midway mark of the 2nd period, the Tomahawks gained the lead back 2-1.
Roman Kraemer deflected a pass from Joey Kile through the wickets of Keane for his sixth of the season.

3rd Period Recap:
Johnstown took control of the third period early as Joey Kile sprung Carter Dwyer on a breakaway.
Dwyer took advantage and backhanded a shot past Keane to give the Tomahawks a 3-1 lead.
Jamestown turned up the pressure but was unable to solve Tomahawks goalie Carter McPhail as the Tomahawks held on for a 3-1 win.

Johnstown is back on home beginning Friday, Feb. 8 with Faith and Family Night presented by Laurel Highlands FCA. Saturday night is Princesses, Sheroes and Superheroes Night presented by JAHA. Then on Sunday, the Tomahawks conclude their series with Maryland with Undies Sunday at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10.
