Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks today announced that the team has tendered forward Riley Doyon, who played his 2015-16 season with the Belle Tire U18 program.
"Riley attended our main camp this past summer and showed well for a younger player coming out of U16, but still needed some refining to his game following camp," Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said.
Riley Doyon, the brother of current Tomahawks assistant captain Drew Doyon, is second on Belle Tire in scoring with 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) through 25 games.
Through the scouting efforts of assistant coach Nick Shackford, Letizia said that Doyon was routinely one of the best players on the ice for Belle Tire.
"He combines a quality skill level and scoring touch, with a high hockey IQ, a will to win and a high compete level," Letizia said. "He has great size already for his age and still has room to grow and develop his body. I look forward to seeing how he continues to progress the rest of this season, and his future with the Tomahawks."
Johnstown returns to the Cambria County War Memorial Friday Jan. 22 for the start of a weekend series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Friday night is Kids Night and features an appearance by the world-famous ZOOperstars. Saturday, Jan. 23 is the fourth annual Guns n' Hoses night where police and firefighters face-off for a charity game before the Tomahawks take the ice.
