Titans Take Four of Six Points on the Weekend

Danbury Titans News Release

Danbury, CT - The Danbury Titans had their first overnight road trip of the season this past weekend with two games. While the outcome was not perfect it was a weekend of experience to build off of in the coming weeks.

Saturday night's game against Brewster was the first meeting since the Bulldogs spoiled Danbury's home opener when they came back from a three-goal deficit in the third period. The Titans almost returned the favor as they came back from a 3-0 deficit to send the game to overtime. However, despite some glorious chances, the Titans could not complete the comeback. Goals by Phil Bronner and newcomer Frank Schumacher gave them life but ultimately were not enough.

The team did not have long to think on the loss as they hopped on the bus to head north to Berlin, NH to play the RiverDrivers. The first meeting between the two teams showed a motivated Titans squad that took the play to Berlin. In the second period Danbury broke through and never looked back as Phil Bronner, Dean Yakura, Matt Caranci, and Tyler Gjurich all tallied. Zach Tatrn scored in the third to round out the score while Alex Vazzano stopped 26 of 28 shots in the victory.

"It was an interesting weekend that ended on a high note", commented Coach Phil Esposito. "We have had some tough lessons in our last two games against Brewster but the players showed resilience. We almost came back against the Bulldogs and then took it to Berlin on short rest for three points we really needed. I was happy with Sunday's effort and hope we can build on that this coming weekend with two home games".

The Danbury Titans' next two games are at home. Saturday night the Berlin RiverDrivers make their first trip to Danbury with the weekend rounding out Sunday night against the Brewster Bulldogs. Game times are 7:35 PM and 6:05 PM respectively at the Danbury Ice Arena. For tickets please call 844-DTHOCKEY or go online to www.danburytitans.com.
