Danbury Titans News Release
The Titans were on a mission to change their fortunes Saturday night. They got some good news before the game as both Tyler Gjurich and Alex Vazzano returned from their loans to the ECHL and SPHL respectively. It did not take long for both of them to make an impact.
Danbury did not wait to get things going as Phil Bronner scored just over one minute into the first period. Despite many chances for most of the period, Berlin hung in to keep the game close and tied it late. However, the stalemate did not last long as Kory Helowka tallied less than a minute late. Danbury outshot Berlin 20-7 in the first period.
The second period saw Tyler Gjurich continue his torrid scoring pace as he scored a natural hat trick to blow the game wide open. His first goal came just 47 seconds into the frame while his other two came later. The Titans continued to dominate the play as they outshot Berlin 14-8. Alex Vazzano allowed the lead to grow as he stopped all eight shots he faced.
Danbury capped off the game with two late goals in the third period from John Scorcia and Matt Caranci. The 7-1 win capped off a four game road trip for the Titans that saw them win three of four games.
The Titans return to the area this weekend as Friday night will be in Brewster against the Bulldogs. Saturday night it is the first home game for Danbury of 2016 as they host the Danville Dashers at 7:35 PM. Tickets and information are available at www.danburytitans.com or by calling 844-DTHOCKEY.
