London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning lost to the KW Titans 109-93 after the Titans went out to an early lead that had the Lightning playing catchup. The Bolts couldn't hit open shots for the first half which gave the Titans an opening that they capitalized on. KW nows moves on to face the St. John's Edge in the Central Division Finals.
The Titans came into the game with a lot of energy that the Lightning did not match. This gave the Titans the opportunities they needed to score on offence and get after London on defence to prevent them from getting any momentum. The Lightning came back at it in the second half, shooting 50% from the field and 9 of 19 from deep for 47%. It was what London needed to do to get back in it but KW just matched them so the Lightning couldn't make any ground. Some key areas the Titans had over the Lightning were turnovers London 18, KW 14, and three point efficiency where London shot 31% and KW shot 46%. The Titans took advantage of the Lightnings level of energy to start the game and that but London in a hole for the rest of the game.
There were a few bright spots in today's game for the Bolts in Alex Johnson, Jaylen Babb-Harrison, and Xavier Moon. Alex was the only starter to reach double digits totaling 16 while making four threes, Jaylen Babb-Harrison got the team high with 18 also htting four threes. Xavier Moon reached 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting, he also really went at it in other areas as well like rebounding grabbing 11, 4 assists, and 3 steals. The Lightnings bench were the scoring catalysts for them with 3 of the four double digit scorers which also included Kirk Williams Jr. who tallied 12 for the game. Babb-Harrison spoke after the game about the game and his season with Lightning stating, "This year was about learning for me, I learned a lot from the veterans...in this game I was trying to bring as much energy as possible and help my teammates out to help get us going."
Head Coach Elliot Etherington talked about what happened during the game saying that, "We really didn't bring it or get stop in key times, and turned the ball over to much." The Lighnting struggled tonight to really get going and once they did the Titans were still running hot which kept them behind.
The London Lightning had a up and down year but came through to reach first place and battled hard in this first round matchup against the KW Titans. The Lightning want to thank all of the staff and crew from the scoretable, photographers, and all the game day personnel who help make our games possible.
